Sun Eclipse Packages

The solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 is an annular eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 0.9190. It will visible in much of Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia. The Annular Phase will be visible within a narrow stretch of 300 km width across Central Africa, Maldives, South Kerala, South Tamil Nadu, North Sri Lanka, Myanmar and China. According to the Internet news the sun eclipse can be seen from Myanmar at 13:23 hrs to 16:33 hrs. Even in Myanmar, sun eclipse can be viewed sharply only from Bagan and Monywa. It was said this is the longest sun eclipse in 21st century. The next sun eclipse can be seen only at another 75 years later. Then it can say that this sun eclipse is the last in your life.

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 1   Yangon Arrival (12th Jan, 2010)

Arrive to Yangon International Airport at 08:45 hrs by TG 303. Welcome by your Guide and transfer to Savoy Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing commences from 70 meter long Chaukhtat Kyi (six-story) reclining Buddha image, the fourth largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar. Of particular interest are the soles of the Buddha inscribed with 108 sacred symbols. Then proceed to Kandawgyi (Royal Lake). Take photo of Glittering Shwedagon Pagoda from the opposite bank across Royal Lake. Also take photo of Karaweik (Royal Barge) from the Baganlone Island. Take a short drive in downtown Yangon to observe the colonial building. Next visit to gold encrusted Shwedagon Pagoda. On platform are 64 smaller pagodas with four large ones right in the center of the four cardinal points. Watch the sunset at Glorious Shwedagon Pagoda. Then visit China Town to get an amazing experience by walking through the China Town. Stay overnight in hotel in Yangon.

Day 2   Yangon-Mandalay (13th Jan, 2010)

Take a morning flight to Mandalay. Transfer to the hotel for check in. En-route visit Mahagandayon Monastery to see the daily life of the Buddhist monks, workshops of tapestries, gold leaf beating and silk weaving, 200 - year - old U Bein teak bridge, built in 1782 spanning the Taung Tha Man Lake. Afternoon sightseeing includes, Manhamuni Pagoda, built by King Bodawpaya in 1784. It is well known for its Buddha Image, thickly covered with layers of gold leaf, Shwenandaw Kyaung    (Golden Palace Monastery) a superb example of Myanmar traditional wooden building and Kuthodaw Pagoda, built by King Mindon in 1868, it also known as the World's Biggest Book for its 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Then drive to Mandalay Hill, 230 meters in elevation, for a panoramic view of the city and its surrounding areas at sunset.  Stay overnight at hotel in Mandalay.

Day 3   Mingun-Sagaing-Inwa (14th Jan, 2010)

Excursion to Mingun upstream Ayeyarwaddy River by boat. Tour Highlights: Mingun Bell, Unfinished Mingun Pagoda, Mya Thein Tan Pagoda and Home for aged. Back to Mandalay. Proceed to Sagaing. After lunch Sagaing sightseeing includes Sagaing Hill, Kaungmudaw Pagoda, silver smith workshop. Back to Mandalay. On the way visit Inwa. Tour Highlights: Ava’s city walls can still be seen, Nan Myint Tower and Maha Aung Mye Bonzan Monastery. Stay overnight at hotel in Mandalay.

Day 4   Mandalay-Monywa-Mandalay (15th Jan, 2010)

Mandalay – Monywa by car. On the way drop in Thanboddhay Temple which is the great attraction for its magnificent Architecture, Boddi-tataung (1000 Buddhas), a groove of Banyan trees, each Buddha sits under the tree. After lunch, watch sun ellipse. Back to Mandalay and stay overnight at hotel in Mandalay.

Day 5   Mandalay-Bagan (16th Jan, 2010)

Take a morning flight to Bagan. Bagan sightseeing begins with Nyaung Oo Market to observe the Bagan peoples’ ways of life. Then proceed to few temples to explore Architectural heritage of 11th Century civilization and mural paintings. Tour Highlights are: Shwezigon Pagoda;  built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century, Thatbyinnyu Temple; the highest white stucco building, Htilominlo Temple; the largest temples of Bagan and Ananda Temple; which has four huge Buddha Images in standing position and relieves depicting the Buddha from his birth to his Enlightenment.  Continue lacquer - ware making cottage industry to view the process. Then Dhamayangyi; Bagan's most massive temple, Manuha Temple; built in the Mon Style from the 1059, Nanpaya Temple;  said to be the place of King Manuha's palace site, Myinkaba Gubyaukgyi;  known for its mural painting depicting scenes from Jataka. Also visit to Pyathatgyi Pagoda to watch sunset over the Ayeyarwaddy River. Stay overnight at hotel in Bagan.

Day 6   Mount Popa-Sale` (17th Jan, 2010)

After breakfast, visit Mount Popa, home of Myanmar's legendary 37 Nats or Spirits, about 50 miles (80km) southeast of Bagan. On the way, can study palm tree climbing, palm sugar making and grinding cooking oil. After lunch, drive to Kyaukpadaung and proceed to Sa Le. Visit Yoke-Sone Monastery, the oldest existing teak wood monastery, Man Paya; a largest Lac Buddha image. Return to Bagan through Chauk, where you can see old Burma Oil extraction ('nodding donkeys') along the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Stay overnight at hotel in Bagan. 

Day 7   Bagan-Yangon (18th Jan, 2010)

After breakfast, transfer to Nyaung U airport for Yangon by morning flight. Yangon sightseeing or shopping. Stay overnight at hotel in Yangon.

Day 8   Yangon Departure (19th Jan, 2010)

Transfer to the Yangon International airport for departure by morning flight.

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 1   Yangon Arrival (12th Jan, 2010)

Day 7   Bagan-Heho-Kalaw (18th Jan, 2010)

After breakfast, transfer to Nyaung U airport for Heho by morning flight. Transfer to Kalaw. En-route visit Pindaya Cave, set deep in the hillsides and there stands at the entrance, a 15 meter high Shwe U Min Pagoda. There are some 8000 Buddha images made from alabaster, teak, marble, brick, lacquer and cement. Among the more unusual features in the cave is a set of stalagmites that can be struck with large wooden mallets to produce gong tone. The way to Pindaya is scenic since both side of the little tar road are fields of dry cultivated mountain rice, potato and passes through the Pa O, Taung Yo, Danu hill tribes villages. Stay overnight at hotel in Kalaw.

Day 8   Kalaw trekking (19th Jan, 2010)

Day return trek to Palaung village is nice and pleasant trek through hill slopes along foot path. And also cross the highland paddy fields, mandarin orange plantation and tea plantation. It is an opportunity to meet hill tribes in the fields at work while harvesting. Drop in to a house for having green tea and snacks at Taungyo village. Enjoy chatting with house owner. Proceed to Palaung village along bullock-cart track. Lunch at Palaung village. Mixed vegetables noodle cook on the spot is very delicious at that time. After lunch return to Kalaw through pine forest uphill and down. Stay overnight at hotel in Kalaw.

Day 9   Kalaw-Inle Lake (20th Jan, 2010)

After breakfast, transfer to Nyaung Shwe (Inle). Inle Lake sightseeing includes silver smith, hand weaving factory, Paundaung Oo Pagoda, Jumping Cat Monastery and floating plantation. Stay overnight at hotel in Inle.

Day 10   Indein-Inle Lake (21st Jan, 2010)

After breakfast, cruise to Indein on the narrow Indein creek. It has a lot to see while cruising along the narrow creek. Indein Pagoda is an ancient one located on the hill lock at the western back of the Inle Lake. You can observe a cluster of ancient stupas some are ruined. To reach the pagoda it has walk up hill along the covered stairway. On the hill top is quiet and tranquil with the marvelous panoramic view of lake and blue mountain range at the east. It has a lot to see while cruising along the narrow creek. After lunch visit black smith’s village, cheroot makers. Stay overnight at hotel in Inle.

Day 11   Heho-Yangon (22nd Jan, 2010)

Take a morning flight to Yangon. Yangon sightseeing or shopping. Stay overnight at hotel in Yangon.

Day 12   Yangon departure (23rd Jan, 2010)

Transfer to the Yangon International airport for departure by morning flight.
